Do you want to know what God is like? – Look at Jesus.
From Genesis to Revelation in a year: John 1-3 1:1-34 - Jesus Christ is the Word of God. He is the Beginning. He is also the End (1-3; Revelation 21:6). He is ‘the Word… made flesh’. ‘We have seen His glory’ (14). This is only the beginning. When He returns, we shall see His glory …

Help us, Lord, to remember that You are stronger than Satan.
Praying Through God's Word John 10:1-42 Living for You, Lord, is not easy. Satan sees to that! Help us, Lord, when we’re sorely tempted to turn from You, to remember that You are stronger than Satan: “Greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4).
The Vine
“You transplanted a vine from Egypt. You drove out the nations and planted it. You cleared the ground for it, and it took root and filled the land” (Psalm 80:8-9).
When we read here about a “vine”, we should remember that Jesus said, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). We read here that the vine “filled the land.” Let us pray for our land – “Shine, Jesus, shine. Fill this land with the Father’s glory.”

Help us, Lord, not to be secret disciples.
Praying Through God's Word: John 12:37-13:20 Help us, Lord, not to be secret disciples. May we be unashamed to say that we belong to Jesus – to take our stand for Jesus. Help us not to think of Him only as our personal Saviour. Give us the strength that we need to confess Him before …
Triumphant hope, glorious hope, eternal hope
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33).
In these words of Jesus, thee’s a great message of hope – triumphant hope, glorious hope, eternal hope.
Triumphant hope
Jesus speaks to us about “tribulation” – but this is not all that he says to us. He speaks to us of his triumph. These words of Jesus turn our thoughts towards his crucifixion and resurrection. For Jesus, his crucifixion was the time of his great tribulation. What suffering he endured, at the hands of his enemies! Jesus’ resurrection was the time of his triumph. We look at his crucifixion and resurrection, and we ask, “Why was he crucified? Why was he raised from the dead?” The answer is – It was for us that he died, and it was for…

Lord, we come to You in our weakness. You give to us Your strength.
John 14:15-15:17 Lord, we come to You in our weakness. You give to us Your strength. Without Jesus, we can do nothing (John 15:5). With Jesus as our Saviour, His Word abiding in us (John 15:7) and the Holy Spirit teaching us all things (John 15:26), we are led into a life of fruitfulness (John …
